Background
The optimisation of crop production considering the small spatial variability on a field
requires new technologies on the agricultural machineries. Automatic steering systems,
generally based on GNSS, are the most common technologies used in precision farming.
Its usage is increasing.
Until now, there is not much knowledge available that considers the accuracy under typical field conditions.
More or less all system providers release their products with similar accuracies, which are usually in the range
of 2 cm for a RTK differential GNSS guided tractor.
However, the statements from the manufacturers need to be proven independently.
